Job Description
We have received a new request from our client for a specialized translation task that differs from standard translation workflows. We are reaching out to explore whether you are trained and qualified to support this type of work.
Task Overview:
• Type of Work: Segmentation and translation using the Salami Technique, commonly used in simultaneous interpretation. This involves breaking down complex source text into shorter, clearer segments before translating.
• Workflow: Translators will define a block of text, translate it, and immediately proceed to the next block—similar to live speech interpretation. They will not have access to full context or the ability to revise previous segments.
• Current Format: Text-based only (no audio at this stage).
• Annotation Requirement: Human translation with source-side span boundary annotation, similar to Long Context HT tasks. Existing UI templates support this functionality.
Languages:
We will be starting with a pilot task for the following language pairs:
• English to Japanese
• English to Chinese
Request:
Could you please confirm and contact by email [HIDDEN]
1. Whether you have trained in the Salami Technique or simultaneous interpretation or not
2. Provide your latest CV
3. Brief introductions to your similar linguistic experience
4. This new task may have a free test in the future. Pls confirm whether you are willing to take the free test or not.
5. Native or native level in target
6. Can deliver tasks on time with required quality
There is no specific domain identified yet, so we may begin with general content or domains your resources are most comfortable with. While this is a small-scale pilot for now, this is a potential huge project for DEO program in FY26. We expect to have continuous workload for this type of task and the languages to expand to all those currently in the program.
Please let us know your availability and any questions you may have.
